If you want to work on speed and power in the same workout session, combine heavy exercises with explosive ones. The heavy ones recruits a lot of fibers and the explosives done immediately after, allow for even better muscle activation on the next heavy set. This also cuts your workout time by stimulating as much muscle fibers as you would in a long session.

Chronic low back pain might be a result of really tight hip flexors. Sitting all day weakens your abs and glutes and shortens your psoas, the hip muscles that form a girdle that runs from your lower spine across each side of your pelvis and attach to the inside of your femurs. When they are tight, they pull the spine forward creating pain. The key to immediate relief is stretching them and strengthening your abs and glutes.

Fat does not turn into muscle when you work out and muscle does not turn into fat when you don’t. They are two different substances and one cannot turn into the other. Less of one simply means more room for the other. Muscle is active tissue, fat is not. When you stop using your muscles, your body becomes significantly less efficient at burning calories, which allows the pounds in the form of fat to creep back on.

You eat to grow; if you are looking to put on muscle mass, you need to up the amount of carbs consumed. Aim for 2-3 grams per pound of bodyweight, to fuel lifting maximum weight and enhance muscle growth. Stay away from simple carbs and choose complex carb sources such as oatmeal, yams and brown rice.
